The event is being hailed by the local observers as one of the most important event in 21st century but tragically the event is not even discussed in Pakistani media. Pakistani Media is busy in Mud slinging and settling the old scores.

Overseas Pakistanis Foundation squandering funds: report

ISLAMABAD: The Overseas Pakistanis Foundation is likely to squander all the trust funds it is investing in industrial projects, like Kaghan Bricks.

This was revealed in an audit report carried out by the Public Accounts Committee. The performance report also alleged OPF for delaying housing projects which added extra cost in the form of financial expenses.

According to sources, OPF acquired land for housing schemes in Zone 5 Islamabad in February 1994. Tenders were called in October 2001 for the prequalification of firms for development work at Zone 5 Islamabad.

LONDON: Muhammad Maqsood Sheikh, a British Pakistani, runs a chain of grocery shops in London but he will temporarily abandon his business this month to deliver aid to the survivors of Pakistan's worst floods in decades.

Like many in Britain's Pakistani community, he is angry with what he sees as the slow response of the government to the floods which have killed more than 1,600 people. "Most of the people I have seen are angry, very angry with the government," Sheikh, 55, said in a windowless office in the basement of one of his shops in south London.

PIA offers complete life insurance cover to overseas passengers

Pakistan International Airlines is the first airline to offer insurance cover to passengers for the entire length of their stay in another country.

In this regard, the PIA is offering optional ‘complete life insurance cover’ (CLIC) to its passengers travelling from overseas to Pakistan and passengers travelling on domestic routes, PIA Spokesman said here on Thursday.

Overseas Pakistanis Consortium announce Rs500m fund

The Overseas Pakistanis’ Consortium (OPC) has announced a Rs 500 million endowment fund for Pakistan to help the country achieve eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

According to the details issued by the OPC, the endowment fund was made to improve the living standards of people by promoting economic stimulus, poverty alleviation and mass collaboration in education and socio-economic development initiatives.
